ESA Awards Euclid Certificate to SPACEBEL

We are thrilled to announce that SPACEBEL has been awarded the Euclid certificate. We have received this ESA distinction in recognition of our excellent contribution to the success of the Euclid mission, ESA’s dark universe explorer that will shed light on the mysteries of dark matter and dark energy.

Launched on July 1st 2023, the European Space telescope Euclid successfully began its high-precision cosmological survey in February 2024. During its mission lifetime of six years, the spacecraft will generate a detailed 3D-map covering one-third of the sky. The study requires extremely accurate measurements and represents an impressively huge volume of various images and data. Up ‘till now, the first Euclid results are spectacular, much to the delight of all stakeholders involved in the Euclid mission, among others SPACEBEL.

In March 2015, SPACEBEL was selected by Thales Alenia Space Italy, Euclid prime contractor, in order to develop the Euclid Control and Data Management Unit Application Software (CASW), which controls the spacecraft along with its sub-systems and commands the instrument in charge of the acquisition of the Euclid images. SPACEBEL was responsible for the design, development, coding, integration, test, verification, qualification and delivery of this innovative software solution. We also covered the associated Ground Support Equipment and services.

Our Euclid realisation is one of the most complex software systems produced by SPACEBEL to date, involving a team of some ten engineers since the start of the project. Present during the launch on July 1st 2023 in the United States and at ESOC (Germany), our CASW team was congratulated on its expertise and significant achievement.

Considering this outstanding contribution and in appreciation of our remarkable work as well as the fruitful collaboration, the European Space Agency (ESA) has granted the Euclid certificate to SPACEBEL.

We sincerely thank ESA and our customer Thales Alenia Space Italy for this special honour and feel extremely proud to share the success of this highly promising mission that will enhance our understanding of the cosmos and push the boundaries of Space exploration.
We also express our gratitude to our wonderful SPACEBEL team for their dedication and amazing work.

Let’s continue reaching into Space TOGETHER !
