EarthCARE: SPACEBEL Cares about the Earth

EarthCARE (Earth Clouds, Aerosols and Radiation Explorer), ESA’s newest Earth explorer mission developed in collaboration with the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency, will observe clouds and aerosols on a global scale to improve the accuracy of climate change predictions and weather forecasts. Weighing about 1,7 tons, the satellite will be launched in 2023.

SPACEBEL will contribute to the development of the EarthCARE Mass Memory and Formatting Unit - a data storage device featuring a high capacity and fast access component of the satellite’s payload. SPACEBEL has recently started these on-board embedded software activities.
